My due date has come and gone so now, well, we're still waiting. I've had more time than I thought to finish up little things here and there--and I've been much more interested in piddling around doing little things than in blogging or cooking or cleaning...good thing my mom's been here!
For example, here's the apple pie from two nights ago, and there's already a peach pie in the oven for tonight. Amazing. Perfect.
While she's been taking care of everything, I've finished up some little gifts for the other little ones...
And finished up a carseat cover for the new little one.
I found a tutorial on etsy and started with that, but it turned out to be too involved (and correct and perfect and careful...) for me, so I just started taking short cuts. In general, though, I took apart the original seat and re-covered it.
I've had this fabric for a while and have waited for just the perfect thing for it. I can't find it online anymore--it was an echino fabric from purlsoho.com. It's got a lovely feel--heavy linen, kind of. I was covering the car seat to make it a little more feminine, which is funny, considering it now--still--looks pretty gender-neutral.
I threw a little bird on the top to "girl" it up a little, but you won't see it much with the crazy sunshine top I made for it:
I love the chartreuse velvet (it does have a little green in it) and since I lined it with the jean material, it's very dark when it's pulled shut. Perfect for keeping the little one asleep when we need to!
All in all, I'm pleased with the results--but it's a good thing I'm no perfectionist, because it is FAR from perfect. Homemade bias tape made with an iron isn't my strong suit, let's say. There are a few other things we could say, but I'll leave it there.
I'm sorry about the photos-- my best lens is broken and so I'm down to my 50 mm, which I clearly am not using very well...bad timing, eh?
