Since it was spring break last week, I tried to come up with a few fun projects for us to work on--this was by far the highlight! We all went to Lowes one morning, and $50 later, we had the supplies for at least 10 marshmallow shooters, including the pipe cutter....
We found our plans here, and the boys and their friend were able to create their shooters within a few minutes, with my help for the cutting part.
Um, is this awesome or what?!
I gave them each a stash of marshmallows, and a big talking-to about picking up all their used marshmallows. There wasn't much need for that, since shooting them in their mouths was the best target. And then I noticed ilo going around after naptime searching for marshmallows in all the corners they might have missed...
On the subject of eating, I do think it's a little funny that I've had to eat my "our-kids-will-never-play-with-guns" words...and so dramatically, since I actually bought them the stuff and taught them how to make them.
Maribeth, I bet you are laughing right now!
The truth is, it was totally fun. They spent the rest of the day making permutations of this original style--since you don't seal the joints, you can take them apart and clean out the marshmallow gunk and re-build them.
I liked this one of Asa's--it's a cane, which secretly turns into a shooter--the marshmallows are stored in the little handle part, and "load" when you pick it up to shoot. I loved it--somehow even guns become interesting to me when you can create your own and decorate it with electrical tape...
