Renne's first swing ride! I know it looks like she's going to fall through, but we checked into it....

She loved it!

And so did everyone else. We had to have a little line so we could manage to share the privilege of pushing her!

We've got a new little routine in our lives that has been an adjustment--Asa's into more soccer these days, and so is Phin, and it falls right at dinner-time. So, in an effort not to eat out much, I've been working on my picnic system. I saw a mom pulling this out of her bag when I was at the museum a while ago and I was so impressed (I think I considered taking a pic with my phone!), that I've instituted it myself...

I just line up a pile of these Ziploc containers on the counter, fill them up (this had fruit, cucumber, and yogurt chicken), grab water bottles, and go. It's so easy to keep track of and hand out and clean up and doesn't feel super-wasteful--and I can put in regular dinner food. The only thing that would make this better is if I could find bento containers just like these that come in lots of cute colors. Any hints, folks?! And all that would do is make our meals better-looking...
I made this lunchbox for Asa a month ago or so, and it turns out to be the perfect size to stack 5 of these meals in...yay! I used this pattern, with oilcloth and lots of pockets for utensils and napkins, and some chalkboard cloth on the front. I change up the picture every few days and Asa seems to love it. I figure no one will mistake his lunch-box for theirs, right? It's also big enough to fit our bento boxes and a water bottle and juice box...I've got two cut out for the other school kids, but haven't managed to get them sewn together. Hopefully I'll get to that soon!
It's perfect picnic weather here in Oklahoma--I'll see you out there, I'm sure!
